David Paul Bellar, a resident of Brighton, formerly of Milford, passed away April 2, 2014. He was 50 years old.
Born in Mobile, Alabama on May 17, 1963, David was the son of Ronald & Carolyn Bellar. He grew up in Milford where his family owned and operated The Sunnyside Cafe, later graduating from Milford High School Class of 1981. In the late 1980s, David moved to Brighton and became a football coach, coaching for 32 years at nearly every level. He was a devoted Wolverines and Buckeyes fan and truly loved how the big games brought those he loved together. In addition to sports, David enjoyed gardening and working on cars. He was very mechanically inclined and had a mind for knowing where things belonged and how to make them work. He worked as a Supervisor in manufacturing and later able to follow his longtime dreams of opening a tropical fish store, Simply Fish, in Williamston, Michigan, where his family also reopened The Sunnyside Cafe. David was born a leader. He believed everyone was entitled to a fair shot and he enjoyed rooting for the underdog. Beyond all things, David loved his family.
In addition to his loving children, Craig, Jami, Jenny Normand, Jacque (Trevor) Carah, David is survived by his grandson, James; his father, Ronald (the late Carolyn d. 2005); siblings, Peggy (John) Kattelus, Jeanette (Joe) Ellsworth, Donald (Joyce), Ron (Justiina), Tom (Sonia), Mary (Scott) Nichols, Bob (Amy); many loving extended family members and dear friends.
