Obituary for Concetta "Connie" Marie Petrucci

Concetta Marie Petrucci of South Lyon, Michigan joined her husband and other family members in heaven, at the age of 95, on Thursday March 17, 2022. She was known to her friends as “Connie” Petrucci. Connie was born in Detroit on March 8, 1927, to Marco and Rosaria Giacinto. She grew up in Detroit with her three brothers and four sisters.

In early 1945 she was introduced to her future husband Sauro”SY” Petrucci at the Graystone Ball Room in Detroit. Their courtship grew into a lifelong marriage which began on June 1, 1946, at St. Cecilia’s Catholic Church in Detroit. Connie and Sy spent 41 years together until his untimely death in 1987. Shortly after their marriage the newlyweds purchased their first home in Dearborn Michigan. It was there when they had their first son Joseph on June 22, 1950.

They moved to Livonia Michigan in 1955 where their second son Robert was born on December 25, 1955. When the boys were older Connie began work for the Livonia Public Schools and remained there until her retirement nearly 20 years later. After her boys where off on their own, Connie and Sy lived mainly in their second home in Houghton Lake Michigan. They later sold their home in Livonia and purchased a Condo in New Port Richey Florida where they went for the winter months.

If she had any hobbies her husband often said it would be shopping. One day when the phone rang, she asks him who called, he said, “It was K-Marts they haven’t seen you in a week and wondered if you were OK”. Most important to Connie was spending time with her family and friends. To Connie her family was everything. She cherished her two boys and their families. The smile on her face when she saw her grandchildren and great grandchildren will truly be missed. She was a woman of faith, a fantastic mother and a great aunt to her many nieces and nephews.

Her long life on this earth will be remembered with many prodigious memories.

Beloved wife of the late Sauro for 41 years. Loving mother of Joseph Petrucci (Judy) and Robert Petrucci (Kerry Young). Devoted grandmother of Amy Sochowicz (Kenn), Jim Petrucci (Tonya), David Petrucci (Alicia), Nichole Katje (Keith), and Anthony Petrucci (Nikki). Proud great-grandmother of Dominic Petrucci, Alex Petrucci, Matt Sochowicz, Nick Sochowicz, and Joey Petrucci. Dear sister of Frances Tavarozzi (the late Don), the late Vivian Douglas (the late John), the late Salvatore “Sal” Giacinto (the late Mary), the late Anna Stover (the late John), the late Vera Donati (the late Al), the late Joe Giacinto (the late Carol), and the late George Giacinto (the late Carol).

Visitation will be held on Sunday, April 3, 2022 from 11:00am until the time of memorial service at 1:30pm at Lynch & Sons Funeral Home 600 E. Main St. Brighton, MI 48116.
