Christine Frances Reid, a long time resident of Brighton, passed away in the loving care of her family on May 29, 2014. She was 81 years old.
Born February 5, 1933 in Detroit, Michigan, Christine was one of three daughters born to parents Mae Katherine (Groen) and Ronald J. O�Brien. Christine and her sisters were raised in the Detroit area. In her post-secondary education, Christine earned a Bachelor of the Arts from the University of Detroit. For 20 years, Christine taught in the Catholic education system. Christine loved many things, including her garden, birds, hiking, and swimming in the beautiful Lake of the Pines. Central to her life was her family.
Preceded in death by Charles, her beloved husband of nearly 40 years, sister Rita Hilker, and parents Ronald and Mae O�Brien.
In addition to her children, Sister Barbara Reid, Jeanne (Terrence) Hissong, Rosemary (Greg) Fournier, and Ronald (Kimberly) Reid, Christine is survived by her grandchildren Meghan (Jason) Lloyd, Brian (Jodi) Hissong, James (Stephanie) Hissong, Trevor Hissong, Andrew (Carlie) Fournier, Matthew (Niki Fitzgerald) Fournier, Laura Fournier, Katie Fournier, Keily (Alfred) Pratt and Gabrian Bartholomew; great-grandchildren Reid, Marlo, Nora, Miles, Teja, Kato, Cassius, Rowan and two great-grand-babies on the way and her sister Marguerite Ewald. Extended family and a host of dear friends mourn Christine�s passing and give thanks to God for her life among them.
Mass of the Resurrection will take place at St. Mary Magdalen Catholic Church, 2201 S Old US Highway 23, Brighton on Monday, June 2 at 11 AM with gathering beginning 1 hour prior. The Rev. Fr. David F. Howell to officiate. Burial Holy Sepulchre Cemetery, Southfield. Friends may visit at Lynch & Sons Funeral Home, 600 E. Main St., Brighton on Sunday from 2-8 PM. Scripture Service 7 PM.
