Charlotte Delores Chomis Sullivan
Beloved Mother and Grandmother
Died August 19, 2011 in Brighton, Michigan. Charlotte was born in Detroit on July 30, 1927, the daughter of Frank P. Chomis (1896-1954) and Gertrude Purol Chomis (1903-1985). She was preceded in death by her parents, and by her brother, Donald R. Chomis Sr. (1925-1976).
Charlotte is survived by her children Maurice, Kathleen and Paul; by her daughter-in-law Mary Clemence, and her son-in-law Eugene Golbiw; by her beloved granddaughters Marisa, Mikaela and Kateri; and by her great-grandson, Sullivan, a little blond dynamo who always delighted his Grandma Char.
She is also survived by her former husband and dear friend John F. Sullivan, along with many nieces, nephews, cousins and others in the Chomis, Whelan, Golbiw, Nash, Joy, Purol and Chmielewski families.
Charlotte worked for many years on the information staff at Sinai Hospital of Detroit. She was an avid and skilled bowler who always enjoyed socializing with her many bowling friends in Livonia.
Her faith was the mainstay of her life, especially her devotion to the Blessed Virgin Mary. She attended mass at St. Gerald in Livonia.
She graduated from Pershing High School, and lived in Detroit for most of her life. She later lived for many years in Southfield and Livonia. Her final 17 months were spent with the residents and staff of the Caretel Inns of Brighton.
Charlotte was a wonderful mother and a beautiful person. We will miss her forever.
A Memorial Mass of the Resurrection is scheduled for 10:30am on Saturday, August 27, at St. Gerald Church, 21300 Farmington Road (between 8 & 9 Mile Roads).
