Obituary for Charles F. Pero

Charles F. Pero, a brief resident of Brighton, and former resident of Elbow Lake in West Branch, where he retired after his years at Detroit Edison, and Lincoln Park, passed away after a hard 3 month battle to regain his health on February 18th, 2010. He was 75 years old.

Charles was born in Detroit on November 5th, 1934 to Charles and Grace (Carr) Pero. He attended St. Henry's Catholic School in Lincoln Park, serving many years as an altar boy at the church, and would go on to graduate from Lincoln Park High School. He met Jennie, and they would marry and together raise their son, Michael.
In 1995, Charles retired as a linesman from Detroit Edison after many years with them. He was very active in the local union, and served as a Union Representative.
In 2004, Charles lost his beloved Jennie. He filled his life and time with his family, particularly his grandchildren, but greatly missed his life-long companion and wife of almost 50 years. If anyone was in need of his help, Charles was always there for them, though he would rarely ask help of others. He was very independent. Whether you knew him as Charles, Chuck or Charlie, he was a good and kindhearted man, though he was never one to be the center of attention, and will be deeply missed by all who knew him.
He is survived by his son, Mike (Anna) Pero; grandchildren, Brad Pero, Jessica (Doug) Pero-Burr, Tony, Joanna & Ellen Pero; siblings, Donna Pero, Lucille Spade, Dorothy Bolla, Mary Ann LaForest, Bill Pero, Jim Pero, Charlene Pruitt, Elaine Pero, and Sr. Beth Pero; sister-in-law, Norine DiMelis and many nieces, nephews, and dear friends who join his family in mourning his passing and giving thanks to God for his life among them. Both Chuck and Jennie are again happy together.

A Funeral Mass will be held at St. Patrick Catholic Church, 711 Rickett Rd., Brighton, on Monday, February 22nd, at 10:30AM with Fr. Mark Rutherford officiating. Cremation will follow. Friends may visit at Lynch & Sons Funeral Home, 600 E. Main St., Brighton, on Saturday 5-9PM and Sunday 2-9PM / Vigil & Rosary 3:40 PM. For further information please phone 810-229-2905.
