Obituary for Barbara Jean Ciliax

Barbara Jean (McCammon) Ciliax, born January 17, 1925, passed away peacefully at home on October 10, 2018.

She was the second oldest in a family of seven children. She has three surviving siblings; Geraldine (William) Allsopp, Ford (Mary) McCammon and Roger (Meg) McCammon.

Preceded in death, are siblings; Howard (Paula) McCammon, Claude Jr. (Ann) McCammon and Marjorie (John) Katz.

She was married for 62 years to the love of her life, Gordon Robert Ciliax, who passed away on January 7, 2012. They had three children; Gail (Bruce) Stoddart, Glen Ciliax, and Brian Ciliax. She also enjoyed her two wonderful grandsons, Parker Ciliax and Eric Stoddart. She also leaves behind many nieces and nephews.

Most of her childhood was spent in Dearborn, MI and she often told the story that her house backed up to Henry Ford’s farm, where she and her sister would go into his barn and climb up and jump into the hay for fun. She graduated from Wayne State University in 1947 with a Bachelor’s Degree in Home Economics and taught in the Detroit and Livonia School systems. Her hobby was to do genealogy research and was a member of the Livonia Genealogical Society for several decades.

She enjoyed spending time with family and friends, and always made superb pies, cakes and chocolate chip cookies for any occasion. Her family was her pride and joy and they will miss and remember her wonderful smile, kindness and positive outlook who always gave of herself whenever she could.

A memorial tribute will be determined at a later date.

Memorial contributions can be made in her name to the American Cancer Society.
