Obituary for Annmarie Stanesa

Annmarie Stanesa, a resident of Brighton, died on April 21, 2015 after a valiant two year battle with cancer. She was 45 years old.

She worked as a wire operator with Smith Barney and later a facilities manager at Soccer-Zone in Novi. She also had a career selling Princess House Crystal and Mary Kay cosmetics before discovering her true calling as a glass artist, working across multiple mediums and types of glass, creating glass sculptures. Annmarie met Joel Stanesa in June 1992 at a mutual friends home and they were married in Troy MI on May 5th 1995. They were blessed with 2 sons, Lucas and Cullen and the family moved to Brighton in the year 2000 shortly after the birth of their 2nd son.

Annmarie had a natural talent for glass art and glass sculpture. She worked at her art in her home studio, where she also taught classes. Her work was sold in galleries in Brighton, Gross Pointe, as well as Grayling MI. She also devoted a great deal of her time and energies and art to great causes through Love INC and the Beads of Courage organization that helps children with serious illnesses. She was a proud and active member of the Brighton Art Guild and the Livingston Sunrise Rotary and served a term on the Board of Directors for both organizations. AnnMarie also volunteered with the Reaching Higher mentoring program and was active as a den and pack leader in Cub Scouts and Boy Scouts with her sons.

In October 2013, Annmarie was diagnosed with colon cancer that had metastasized to her liver and then later to her lungs. She fought her cancer bravely and publicly and was a beacon of hope and strength for many people around the country. She was dearly loved by all who knew her and she will be dearly missed.
