GRIEF & HEALING
affirmations to uplift & help you through
each stage of the grieving process.
Alexander T. Morland, a resident of Brighton, passed away August 21, 2015. He was 22 years old.
Born November 10, 1992 in Commerce Twp., Michigan, Alex was one of three children born to parents Kelly (nee. Lauck) and Bruce Thomas Morland. Alex and his siblings, Becky and Matt, were raised in the family’s first home in Holly, Michigan before they settled in their current home in Brighton Twp.
Following his high school graduation, Alex searched for the region’s best Automotive Mechanic School—his search brought him to the University of Northwestern Ohio in Lima, Ohio where he began his studies. Alex only recently returned home to be near his family and to continue his studies locally. He began working for The Car Guys Garage in Brighton. For Alex, the garage became the place where he gained confidence in his skills as a mechanic, developed friendships with like-minded guys and enjoyed every moment of the work he was so proud to do. Most of all Alex loved BMWs—he loved to work on them and to drive them and had owned three in the last several years. It was his goal to restore BMWs for a living.
Every autumn, beginning when Alex was young, the Morlands would plan a long trip to the family cabin in Gulliver, Michigan. It was here that Alex fell in love with the out of doors. He learned how to build a fire and to hunt deer, to be self-reliant and to work as a team, to read the landscape and to relish the beauties of nature. It was here that Alex learned to appreciate the lessons of his father and their time together.
Alex was known to always have a joke ready—he knew he was funny, and most everyone agreed. He loved disc golf—the combination of the competition, the camaraderie with his friends and the time spent outside.
Alex was raised by a family of proud and hard-working men and women who, for generations, have made the most of what they had and lived life to the fullest—Alex was no exception to his family’s longstanding tradition.
Alex was preceded in death by his grandparents, Bill and Marteen Morland.
In addition to his loving parents, Alex is survived by Bruce and Kelly Morland; sister, Becky Morland; brother, Matt Morland; grandparents, Ken and Margaret Lauck; aunts and uncles, Bill (Pat) Morland, Mark (Kelli) Morland, Virginia Middlebrook, Linda Morris, Mike Lauck and Amy Cornette. Many cousins, extended family members and a host friends join in mourning Alex’s passing and in giving thanks to God for his life among them.
Mass of the Resurrection will be held from St. Mary Magdalen Catholic Church, 2201 S. Old US 23, Brighton, on Wednesday, August 26, 2015 at 11 AM with gathering to begin one hour prior. The Rev. Fr.
